I sold my '14 CB1100 and '18 NC750XD in December 2019.
Yeah, I know.

For starters, I have no garage, so keeping multiple was tricky. Both rides were great in their own rite. The CB was glorious. The NC was incredibly practical. I wanted both in one machine, and more height.
So I bought a '19 CRF1000LD ...

I always thought the [late model] Africa Twins (AT) were ugly, like most ADV bikes. However, I knew it was the least ugliest of the ADV bikes.
The more I despised it, the more I liked it. The same thing happened to me with the CB1100 and NC750X. I avoided the CB because it was "too bright and shiny" - very dangerous. I gave in. The NC was strange in many other ways, but I gave in.
Local regional winter has hampered putting a lot of mileage on the AT, but so far the amount I have, I can't get enough. It is something to behold. It is powerful and sounds exotic.
I plan to write a rider's report in the coming months.
