There’s quite a big/ healthy scooter scene around here and pre COVID you would regularly see group rides out and about. Many dressed in Mod or Rocker gear. Lambrettas, Vespas and the like. I don’t really know what they are TBH but clearly the owners love em. They do an annual charity run over the Humber Bridge and there’s so many (hundreds and hundreds) they open toll booths especially to just let’s them through FOC. I’ve been to watch the spectacle a few times. The sounds and smells of these two strokes is actually pretty impressive and I still think I am going to have to try it out one of these days. Maybe buy one? I think we notice these things because modern vehicles are so (relatively) clean and odorless now. I found these pictures online to add colour to my post.
p.s. the Humber Bridge is physically near to the place where the Roman’s used to cross the Humber River, they called it Ermine Street (it’s now called the A15) and it ran for miles linking (locally to me) Lincoln and York. Lots of Roman stuff dotted about if you know where to look. Anyway, The Queen opened it in 1982, used to be the longest single span in the world. I walk it quite often in Summer for exercise. I have been up the tower (nearest in that pic) and it’s pretty impressive.
