Sadly this was a very big issue in 2010 in Canada after Piaggio took over. Not sure if the problem existed prior to Piaggio, but nevertheless, the support ecosystem just got weaker and weaker. It is really too bad. Maybe the MG brand would be even better in North America if a better business situation prevailed.
On the flip side, at least common maintenance on such bikes like the V7 is highly digestible.
