I’ve had it for several years but sadly - at least for me - rarely find the time to ride it and also regard it as a precious machine that I don’t want to mess up.
It’s kind of a long story Tommy, but the third owner (to my knowledge) had listed the bike at a time when I was working on my K6. His ad popped up on my feed and I let him know it was too pretty for how little he was asking for it. He appreciated the honesty from a stranger, pulled the ad and we endeavoured to meet up for a ride soon. Weather got in the way as he rightly didn’t want to get the K1 all dirty with road grease and mud. Years went by. I reached out. No answer. Another year goes by and I heard from his widow, who invited me to come take a look at the bike. We struck a deal and it became my bike for several thousand dollars more than he had been asking in his original listing, and now I have this gorgeous 51 year old bike in my life and a clear conscience for the commerce behind it.

Great story. They are special bikes. I feel somewhat different about putting miles on old bikes. Sure, it's not the sort of bike you'd want to ride in bad weather, but for mine at least (I have three vintage bikes, and my K2 is the "youngest") nice weekend rides and quick trips to the store couldn't put more miles on them than is good for them. And besides, the nice thing about these bikes is that they are still pretty easy to refresh back to a near new state whenever you want to. Anyway, neat bike!
