That's cool, Charlie! I love seeing interest in someone young like that. Spent a good chunk of my Saturday at the museum with a lady and her young daughter (maybe 10), because "We came here today because my daughter loves cars, wants to work with cars, and just had to come here." That needs to be nurtured, right?
Identifying coordination is a good thing for evaluating how someone might pick up riding. Good that your Grandson has it. Yeah, maybe a Rebel 500 is a bit big for a 12-year-old to start with. The small dirt bike is a good idea. My uncle let me futz around with his Trail 90 when I was that age, and I loved it. Does he ride an E-Bike? I see kids around here tearing it up on E-Bikes that are petty much at the performance level of a small dirt bike, doing sustained wheelies, and stuff like that.
Driving at 12? Yeah, Dad taught me at that age... but because he knew I'd have to bring him back from a bar every now and then.
