While I know he's a spirited rider, the odds are that the bike he rode had the pre-load set to the stops. The bikes are shipped that way, and some poll had over 80 percent of the dealers not setting it up according to their checklist (other BMW's aren't shipped that way). Mine in any case handles quite well. You can tell if it's set up wrong by the fact that you'll scrape pegs. I have to REALLLLY go out of my way to try to scrape mine.
yea....the one I rode put the pegs on the ground almost instantaneously. just a little tiny lean at 50mph and you go SCRAAAAPE. To keep it from throwing sparks I had to slow down dramatically ahead of turns, which is not at all something I'm used to. That was also the Transcontinental version which i believe is heavier and has the floorboards though, so that may make a difference in how soon it drags. what killed me about that bike the most was that it rattled all my fillings out of my head.
the not-cooking-thighs thing seems like a huge advantage over its competitors though. the comparable Harley road glide or CVO still has a big v-twin and those have always been very hot on my legs in any format.
