Last century, in the cold winter of February 1999, I read a local advertisement for a red CBX with 10,000 km on sale.
So I called the seller and made an appointment the next day to buy his bike for CAD7,500, which was what he wanted.
I took 2000 CAD cash with me as a deposit to show that I was seriously interested.
When I arrived, his bike had been parked inside the house for quite some time.
The bike was in perfect condition except for the throttle cable which was broken but I was able to operate it with pliers.
When I asked him to prepare the documents, he said that he feels very fond of his motorcycle and does not want to sell it. I waved CAD 2,000 cash in front of his face, prepared a check, and raised the price to CAD 8,000, but after two hours of our conversation, the guy refused to sell.
When I got home I called him 2-3 more times over the next couple of days and offered C$10,000 just to see what would happen but the sale never went through...
