In my experience with such things, I will be zeroed-in on what I want and Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I'll get it.
But... if getting what I want means waiting, yes, second thoughts start to creep in... am I spending wisely... do I really want this color...
What I find is that if I end up with what I initially wanted, I'm much happier, and the added cost stops being a nagging issue and fades away.
If I change course to get something sooner and cheaper, I'm never happy.
