Dang that was quite a journey. I know what it feels like to think you made a big booboo when you bring a bike home that's different from anything else you've ever had. I second guessed my KTM relentlessly but by the time it was ready for it's viking funeral I was completely acclimated to the bike and loving it. It was nothing like my CB at all and I was still loving it. The new triumph is the same way. It demands my respect and makes me work hard for every corner. No lazy counter lean turns or low RPM tractor pulls allowed. Since we both have big twins now I can't help but think you're having a somewhat similar experience. You'll fall in love with big torquey pulls and the aggressive nature of the new BMer, just like I did on the thruxton! Can't wait to see it in person week after next!
