I've had carbs and FI.

I wouldn't do without FI. With a modern system, well done (not my sixteen-year-old R1100RT's early system) it starts quick and smooth and settles right in. As opposed to a carb, where you have to put the choke on, hope it doesn't flood, and then ease it off in steps. Some carbed bikes I had had to be warmed up ten minutes or more.

It's more complex but it's also maintenance free. Allowing for maybe one major failure over the life of the bike...the savings in your time or shop time in not having to have carbs serviced, would probably more than make up for the cost on the rare servicing/diagnosis of a FI issue.
