I agree..."Ride more, worry less." Which isn't to say that some bikes don't have actual issues, or that Honda is incapable of turning out a defective product (search on "Acura TL transmission problems" if you don't believe me).
All that said....within the realm of "normal" operation, I wonder if part of the issue is that *cars* these days have gotten so quiet, smooth and isolated that a lot of people just aren't accustomed to hearing/feeling actual mechanical noise.
