I think there is a bit of a honeymoon period with any new oil change as well. When I do a fresh change of Rotella in my bike, it shifts beautifully and reduces the slight valve train noise by at least 50%. After 6-800kms and a little shearing and breakdown, things basically return to normal. This same thing seems to happen with every brand of oil I've used (even with the M1 in my cars, but over a longer time frame).
