To the OP, if the battery was installed in the bike when you overfilled it, be sure you've neutralized the spilled acid or it can/will do awful things to whatever it's in contact with. Baking soda and a little water will work.
Nope. No point in using one since the bike gets ridden every other day.
Usually 2.5 to 3 years is about normal for a bike battery here in the desert heat.
