The lost acid may lower battery life a bit. I did the same on all cells of an FZ-1 battery and it lasted only about 2 years, where the original lasted 6-7 years.
Except for lithium ion ones, all bike batteries use acid, even AGM. They just are filled from an acid 6-pack by the dealer (or factory) and that acid turns into a gel when absorbed. They then get sealed and won't lose any water - maintenance free.
The stock CB1100 batteries (YTZ14S) are acid filled and charged at the factory and likely will last the longest.
