Gearing

If anyone has changed any sprockets for more acceleration on a 14 model 6 speed, I suspect it would be MotoGeezer. I think CIP geared down his 2013 5 speed.
yes

here is the deal

if you have changed gearing on other bikes and know what you want then of course you will go for it

if you have never done a gearing change then i will say that in most cases it seems like a good idea but the results are not usually very pleasing

if you gear up, then the bike will harder to get moving off the clutch in first gear but of course less rpm at road speed

if you gear down you will have more perceived acceleration but the bike will be spinning faster and feel overworked or strained with more vibes at road speed

honda have done a good job at sorting these bikes

I've searched and found a few people looking to lower the revs at motorway speeds on 5 speeds, but I'm looking to go the other way.

On a run the other day, track obviously, I was getting 100 at 6000rpm in 4th. It's doing a touch off 90 at the start of the red line at 8500rpm in 2nd.

The way it's geared it would top out in 6th at.... well, I don't know, as I haven't really got the maths to work it out, but silly speeds.

I actually only use 6th as an overdrive. Just a lazy gear for the motorway, when 2 up.

It did seem to me that lowering the gearing might just make better use of the power for my sort of riding. I like using the gears. As it is, 70 is about 3k and the motor is hardy turning. I've got a few revs to play with and thought it might 'brighten up' the bike.

Anyone gone that way on a 6 speed and if so, did it work for you?

My bike has an ECU Flash, PCV, TSR Air Intake, Air Funnels, and a cat free 4 into 1. I've also lightened it some.

Thanks

that will sort it all out for you

i recently used it to come up with the perfect gearing for me 2012 gsxr750

took me three track days to get used to the new setup but it is a huge improvement

lap times are the same but control is much better

also I can run a gear higher in many places now and still have the torque i need

from what you say it sounds like you want that

i also ride my 2013 cb1100 as you said with high rpm and like to keep it in the power
