Hi Max,
So I warmed the bike up for a bit and rode around the block a few times and popped it back on the center stand and I guess the oil wasnt enough lol. So I just poured the rest in and rode it around again. Now it's at the center stand 4 quartz total warmed up and it's on the top line
thanks for reassuring me that the tick noise is not dangerous haha
. I searched the ticking noise up and you are right that many people have noticed it as well. So I guess i'm just extra paranoid since this is my first time. Maybe I'll try 10W-40 my next change and see how that goes. My old oil looks pretty dirty and I saw a bunch of sparkling stuff in it, I'm assuming that's metal dust or something. Gonna clean the chain and im off to bed! I'll take her out for a spin tomorrow morning
woooo~~ thanks !

if you do a search in this forum ( very top line ) for noise and/or ticking you get some results but few are conclusive.
Silly question but did you check the noise with the engine on the center stand? ( oil level may be low on the right hand side of the bike and may not reach the harmonic balancer gear if on the side stand ).
If you still have the old oil you may be able to solve part of the puzzle by swapping it out for the new stuff if that is the only thing you have done ( apart from the filter ) .
Doing this will do no harm to the oil or the engine and it will be interesting if the situation can be reversed.
if the noise does go away you will have at least solved the puzzle.
I usually have some oil left over and periodically check the level and maintain it to the top mark like you have done, i don't like to overfill the oil by just tipping it all in although i can understand dealers doing this.
Good question and i can quite understand your concern; max
