Bike electronics can do strange things when there is an open circuit or if conflicting data is received from one of two circuits that should both be receiving similar data.
According to the parts chart, the DLX is supposed to use the identical O2 Lambda Sensor, but in two places. In theory, doubling up the Eliminators should work...but the DLX may be an exception.
