I rarely use the brakes on my Beemer.
So much so that it is still on the original pads and shoes... Since 1992! I've never had to change them.
Mind you, I get massive engine braking (cr upped to 10.5-1) and using 'anticipation' I often just don't need to brake.

Anticipation is good...slowing for a traffic signal to minimize stopped time when it gets warmer here is a good thing!

105,000 miles for first pad change on previous 4 wheel vehicle and they could have gone more than 7 years...lot of highway driving.

I replaced front pads on 76 CB750F once in ~40K miles...simply because I had them...not that they were needed. Tires and chains were much more frequent.
