Well that's easy, in the top picture of your post is the groove and in the lower pic is the square that fits in the groove so to speak and prevents the caliper from rotating in both directions of the wheel..
from what i understand your caliper just sits on top of the square, it should look like this;
And from the right side it should look like this;
Then the brake line should look like this;
