Oil Comparison ?

Years ago we flew into Phoenix to look for a place to live in Arizona . It was 116 and right there and than we changed our mind and ended up in NC.

and in winter, a dry cold. I have thought about a move to Arizona too, but to Prescott. High enough in the mountains to be cooler in the summer. The heat in Arizona is dry. When we visit Tombstone in the summers, the heat does not really bother me like the 80-90% humidity heat like we have along the coast in south Texas. I am riding from about 7 to 10 AM right now and that is it!

Oil treads are very slippery subjects and it could slide down easy to greasy comments.

Yes, and the book will show a range of temps. How many of us ride much below 45 degrees? Yes, I realize a few hard-core riders are there, but most miles are put on when 60 or above.

I have donned my snowmobile gear for a short ride, very seldom though. Just like with a lawn mower, how often do we mow(or use) below 30 degrees?

When talk about oil, I believe the spec of oil are more essential in the discussion compare to the brand. But for laymen like me, I only know to look for the label with Jaso ma2, API SM or SN, 15W-50. Other than the oil weight, I don't really know what the other 2 (JASO and API) means other than JASO MA2 is safe for wet clutch. Synthetic or semi depend on how long before I plan to change the oil. But for me, I prefer to change more frequently using semi synthetic then use synthetic for an extensive mileage. Personally i felt how ever good a synthetic, it lost its smoothness by 1000km.

The Motul going on 2000 miles, and has lost no smoothness or shifting ease. I really have liked switching all of my bikes to either the 7100 or 300V, both synthetic and 10W-40.

Honda GN4 10w30 and OE oil filters. Every 4000 miles for 51,000 miles now. Shifts like buttah!

This. Except when I can't get OE filters, Purolator Pure (or whatever the mid-level filter is called these days) is fine.
