How close do you sit to the tank?
#11
When I start off, or when maneuvering around at slow speed, I'm on the front half of the seat. Once moving at higher speeds, I scoot back.

The seat now has two "dents," one in each position.

I can say I have never before found a Honda seat that I could not live with. Until now. I test rode the 1100 yesterday and definitely liked what I saw however the ride was not as great as the appearance. The seat to me is a throw away item. The seat and handlebar positions made me feel like I was on an older Trail bike. I think the light feel of the bike added to that picture. In all I could not picture a ride lasting more than maybe 20 miles. The 1100 is super smooth and quiet and attractive. With the cost of the bike added to the over the top prices of any accessories makes it a no go for me. We will see what they revise for next year.

That seat takes some getting used to and I'm still not used to it! Biker
Personally, I vary my position; I sit close to the tank for a while, slightly away for a while and when the butt burn gets real bad I stand up on the pegs for maybe 10 seconds to get the blood flowing to my old, boney butt! ROFL

I'm 5'11" and 198 lbs. On the stock seat nomatter where I would try to sit, within a mile or so I would slide forward and be sitting up by the tank. I was good for an hour max on the stock seat. On the Corbin I sit slightly farther back when riding at low speeds but not all the way back to where the seat curves upwards. At high speeds (above 65 mph) I sit all the way back and lean forward a bit more. Nomatter where I sit on the Corbin seat I stay there. I don't slide forward or back and it's more comfortable no matter where I sit. Combined with my Road Comet faring, sitting farther back on that Corbin allows me to cruse at 85 mph for long periods (the speed limit is 75 here so 85 is cool). I really like the look of the stock seat but after the first month I knew it had to go. I'd like to try the K&H seat as well so I may buy one and do a comparison between it and the Corbin. We have several members here in the Phoenix area and a "seat comparison day" might be a good excuse for a get together. Cheers.

Ooh, I like that idea.

Like others, I'm 6', 32" inseam. My butt goes number after about an hour. The seat seems very comfortable to start, but then I just go numb for no apparent reason. I always ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs. I sit about an inch from the gas tank so I can grip it with my thighs.

AzBob,

OK then I'll put it together. I have a stock seat, a Corbin seat, and in about a month I'll have a K&N Mid seat as well. As soon as I get it I'll host a gathering at my home in North Scottsdale with complimentary food and cocktails. Bring your CB11 and try all of the seats back to back, then several of us can write up a comparison. Stay tuned.

For the first time in 1900 miles, this past weekend I started to feel a little better on my stock seat, maybe my butt is getting used to it, or the seat is breaking in. I also tried a fellow posters recommendation about sitting back a little when the road opens up and being closer when in the twisties.

I put the Corbin seat on my bike a short while ago and I feel much more comfortable AND also more confident cornering with this seat.I am 6' and about 225 lbs .The stock seat gave me a numb rear end after 75 miles and now I can ride for hours on end.I always have the balls off my feet on the pegs for better control of the bike.(sometimes on the Interstate I change foot position) With the Corbin seat I feel much more ONE with the bike.To me it is the best upgrade I have made for comfort, together with the Over crash bars for protecting the engine.

I'm 6'2" and sit as far back into the curved area that leads to the passenger seat. My l've ridden for hours without my ass getting sore or numb from this seat, then again my CB750 seat is much wider and harder that this. This seat is a dream compared to the old hard OEM 750 seat. Sitting back allows me to get a better grip on the tank as well and makes it a bit easier (for me anyway) to slide side to side for cornering. It also puts my knee in a better position to hang from. If I sit choked up to the tank I can't grip it as well and that tank is wide.

I took some advice from another member here and just ordered a CB500F bar and some new Manic Salamander bar end (my addition) so that I'll have a slightly sportier position on the bike. The stock bars and my size put me a little to straight up for my taste.

Chip; I'm game but won't be able to ride for at least 6 weeks. Got new bits installed on my clavicle; a plate and eight screws. Dr's orders, no racing or riding for a while.

Luckily this is not prime riding weather. Smile

I used to be 6-2, down to about 5-11 with a 36" inseam. Leg room has always been an issue.
