Tell me about your CB1100

Hello there, I ride a 2009 triumph bonneville. At the time when I purchased it I was seriously considering a honda cb1100 but went with the triumph because I found it for a pretty good price.

I was hoping you guys could tell me how you like the throttle of your cb1100. The fuel injected bonnevilles have issues because of the emissions system (which I am working on getting off and tuned). Does the honda also have a secondary air injection which messes with the throttle, making it jerky?

Also how's the gas mileage? I hear the cb has a smaller gas tank with something like 40mpg- not sure what octane your bike requires (will be doing a lot more research on these forums in the near future).

throttle response is linear and predictable, the engine is very smooth so is the gears/clutch. the frame is firm, no flex as I see. I can't detect flaws in it.

Manual calls for regular gas. So I use 87 octane.

I had a 2010 Boneville which had a sensitive throttle in first gear at low RPM. Not so with the Honda. Very smooth even at incredibly low RPM.

I refill at the same mileage point with the Honda that I did on the Bonneville, occasionaly further.

Had a Scrambler 900 before the CB1100 and I can honestly say the CB is just better at everything. The Triumph had the twin carbs and was outfitted with the TOR pipes and a few other bits to open it up to its full potential. The CB is just a step up from the fit and finish, controls, power, shocks, braking, lighting its all just so good. That said I still might consider trading the CB for my old crappy Triumph. The Triumph had a soul and it was an real experience every time i took it out for a ride. If you can own both you are a luck man as they should cover whatever you are looking for...

I test rode the bonnie and Cb 2 months ago. The CB is a much better mount. I found the bonnie to lack in suspension and power. Its a Honda, just a smooth gear box, power down low with no herky jerky that you mention with the bonnie. On off throttle is smooth provided there's no pilot error. There is no throttle restriction from the ECU at lower RPM's like you find in today's liter bikes, i gives you what it has from idle up. Good Luck

The Honda's can get pretty good gas milage. I've gotten 52 with just 1K miles on the clock. Others here have reported upper 50's.

I think the bike is pretty flawless. Might wanna adjust the suspension depending on how aggressive you ride but it's a class act, very smooth, plenty of pick up and very nimble. Just needs a louder exhaust haha!

Sounds to me like no one here feels the 100 pounds of difference between the triumphs and the CB. I need to test ride one sometime- but it feels to me like it's either/or and not or/and with these bikes. Having both of them in your garage seems too repetitive since they essentially do the same thing, no?
