Trade a '13 for a '14 EX? How much will it cost?

I would tell all you guys about the 2015 CBR400RR that comes with a twin-turbo V-5 engine, but...

Well
That interesting stuff.
On the trade. Having many friends in the bike business your gonna be lucky to get 6k IMO and for late model resale your bike is high mileage so hurts ya even more. Your gonna pay full retail until late in 2014 at best.
As a point of reference I just bought my 13' private sale for 7k with less than 200 miles on it. This may give you a reality (albeit sucks!) check.
I tell ya. If you want a modern look the delux is awesome. Like the ducati sport classic made a few years back w dual exhaust. But all that black makes it look less retro jap and that's what I love about this bike. So true to the retro look.
5 speed. On this bike wa wa wa
Black wheels. Bla
Larger tank. .5. Whatever
Chrome pipes...hmmmm. Nice but not retro and more weight and more to keep shiny.
All IMO of course
Only two options make sense to me.
A. Keep your as one bike. You live it as evidence from your miles on it.
B. Wait for somebody to bore of their 14 delux or realizes thy really wanted a gold wing, then be the guy that buys it at the right price.
Just my 5 cents.
Romo

Keep your b
Keep your bike. Your love it. Typos. Correction for above. You get the gist.

Also, it's one thing to be dissatisfied with a product, but to want a different product even more doesn't necessarily mean that a person isn't happy with what they bought. We all have different preferences. For many, the 2013 model was the best thing going back when it was released. Now for some, the 2014 Deluxe model will supplant the 2013 offering as the bike that comes the closest to their ideal. That doesn't strike me as being all that difficult to understand. I hope that everyone out there who is pining for a 2014 model is able to find a way to make it happen. Especially if that means selling or trading in a 2013 model. The more CB1100s out there being ridden, the better.

look for a Ducati Sport Classic. You might like it. Or from the sounds of your research which is similar to mine you have likely considered it already

Who in here is complaining? And what are they complaining about? I bought an '03 Sportster back in '03... because I wanted it. Then once I had it, I realized I wanted a rubber mounted, fuel injected Superglide so I traded for it the next year. Was that complaining? No. I realized it wasn't what I wanted and took the hit in the trade. I still have that Superglide today... and will only trade it when I'm ready to buy a Road King or some other more suitable Harley touring mount. My '09 KLR has a carburetor... I hate that! But am I complaining? No. However, if they came out with a fuel injected KLR, I'd consider trading for it. My life is full of things I bought then changed my mind on... a Corvette from a Mustang. A 19 foot ski boat from a 25 foot cruiser. Did I do my research? You bet. But once the item was mine, the hunt was over and the ownership began. We could talk houses, beachfront condo's, suv's, luxury cars.. but as Hillary said... 'What difference does it make? '. I really enjoy my 2013 CB1100... however I think I would enjoy a 2014 CB1100 EX even more. And I bet that I'm not alone. I did my research... I went to Daytona and talked to AMERICAN HONDA REPS. I went to the Progressive / Cycle World show in Atlanta. I've cruised the net.... I joined this forum... before I bought. NO WHERE was there any inclination that an updated version would be introduced for 2014. Not back in June when I bought the '13 and not as recently as this Fall. Not for here... not for anywhere. If that's a problem... then it's MY problem... because at the end of the day, it's MY money. And besides I like what Guth stated... that'll put another CB1100 out there... And that's GOOD for all of us. Ride safe my friend.

I really shouldn't say anything more, but the 2017 version of this bike is really going to blow people away. To this day, I still could do without any more sake.

Guth...why are you admitting to this? You're going to jeopardize the whole thing!

Ok... in the interest of keeping this thread, and thoughts on price, alive... here's what happened today. It'll make many of you say... 'I told you so'... but that's ok, I can take it.
I called my local dealer today, the same one I bought my '13 from. I told them that I was interested in trading to a 14 Deluxe and what would the bottom line be? Well... It came back higher than I expected. The spread was just short of $6000.00.
I reminded them that my bike is stock (other than the luggage rack which I want to keep), has 1300 miles on it, and is in perfect condition. We broke it down... the trade value would be $5800.00 (just as someone said was listed on KBB), they'd 'reduce' the 14's price from $11895 to around $11,200 (I think...) and then add about $600 for fees, taxes, etc... I orig. posted on this thread that I thought a $4000 spread would work, but before other fees, taxes, etc... So, I'm at least $1000 off what I figured I could get it for. I don't know... I told them to sharpen their pencil a bit more... and we'll see. But I don't know, I enjoy my '13 and I think I'd enjoy the '14 even more, but I'm not sure it's worth the $6000 difference after less than a year of ownership. These Honda's drop fast!! I didn't lose anywhere close to that when I traded in an '03 Sportster for an '04 Superglide. Sad

Look you can buy the gas tank, and side covers for a whole lot less than $6k!

6th gear while nice is not necessary, man up as one never had gear indicators on the bikes from the 60's. Save the $6k and wait another year, like the iPhone hype next better one is coming soon.

For some reason, Harleys have always held a pretty good resale price.....metrics have not.
