That would certainly help with the gearing thing wouldn't it? Lol
Was out for a nice long ride today, I had about a 100 mile jaunt down the freeway on the way home, 75-80 mph sustained the whole way. The revs seemed a little high, but the bike was very smooth, and didn't seem to mind. I am still running stock exhausts so it wasn't loud. Maybe the taller gearing isn't necessary anyway.
Funny how the bike feels like it's wound up at 80 mph, but if you roll the throttle the rest of the way open, it just takes off.
(P.S. Down one very long straight stretch, I hit the speed limiter for the first time since I've had the bike, I wasn't looking real hard at the gauge, but it was around 110. Felt like a stall.)

She's in her power band at that speed; very willing to pull more. Not arm stretching eye ball flattening acceleration, but she goes.

As very few people are buying the CB1100 with performance at the top of the list of their priorities, the difference this additional weight would make when riding might be insignificant and would be offset by the lower revs out on the highway that many desire.

the overall weight is important, 540 lbs wet is on the heavy side. if you tow someone in the back, you feel the weight, carrying capacity of the CB is not great, I think it is around 350 lbs.

Yeah, just smooth acceleration, nothing radical, but it pulls hard enough to be interesting. I've had the bike since October, and that is the first time I've even exceeded 80 mph, much less "topped" it out,(if you can call it that ). And it is likely to be months before it happens again. My speed burner days are long behind me, but I have to admit, it was fun.
A strong wind blast could make it scary though.

I got a call from Barney's yesterday... a Honda dealer in St. Petersburg. The salesman told me that they had placed an order for their first delivery of 2014 CB1100's. He didn't tell me how many or what models they'd be, but confirmed that they expect to take delivery in May. It was kind of funny...because of this forum,I was telling him about the bike. He didn't have a lot of information about it just that it would have a 6 speed tranny. This is starting to feel a lot like Groundhog Day... Last year in January I read about the 2013 coming to the states and the juices really started to flow... Just like this year. I can't get the 2014 EX out of my mind. Then I went to Daytona in March for Bike Week and got to see and sit on the finished product for the first time... Just like this year (I'm planning on going and I'm sure the bike(s) will be at the Honda display). Then the bikes arrived at the dealerships in May... Just like this year. And I bought mine in June... Just like this year? Maybe... Depends on the spread.

Well, since the show is in long beach in early December, obviously the rep Let me know about the changes in December. So yes, the Honda reps in December of 2012 let us know of the changes proposed for the 2014 model. I know most of you understand the basics of manufacturing, so company representatives having knowledge of changes in a product less than a year away should not come as a big surprise to you, but a few of you are downright clueless to how the world seems to work... Do you really believe that Honda can make real changes to a product in a few months... Not think about changes, but put the changes into production... Wow, thank God it is only a few of you... As for the rest of you, not clueless, enjoy you CB until you don't, and then sell it or give it to your kids... Or do like me and keep it... Ride safe everyone...

Clueless huh? That was rather condescending.
I don't doubt for a minute that the engineers at corporate Honda knew about the proposed changes, but having spent 17 years in the motorcycle industry, as a store manager and a sales manager, I know that sales reps are on a need to know basis, and generally aren't told a whole lot about upcoming models until that info is ready to be released to their dealers and the press.
I just find it interesting, that Honda sales reps in Dec 2012, were telling complete strangers at a trade show, about changes to a brand new 2013 model that hadn't even been released to their dealers yet, changes that their dealers still are not aware of in Jan 2014, and that nothing leaked out to the press or over the internet about these proposed changes in 13 months. There is still nothing in the press or on the internet that I can find, concerning the CB 1100 Deluxe which is due to be released in the U.S. in the next 3 or 4 months. We can't even find out definitively what kind of wheels it has...mags like the standard, or spokes like the European EX. Or if it is available with ABS or comes standard with ABS. Dealers have no info on them other than model, color and price. I was just at a dealer speaking with the owner today? He could tell me basically nothing. He believed it had mags, but he wasn't really sure. He had no idea on the ABS.

Truly sorry for my tone, but the clueless, and this includes store managers here in social, can't believe Honda reps at a national show know anything about future bikes. I'm sorry the bloggers outside of the biggest market in the whole country can't get real good info but to bad for you... Make a trip out to Long Beach next year and get informed. Hell, I will even show you some great roads to ride on not in your guide book. I was on GMR just a few hours ago... 77 degrees and sunny here. Unless you smart guys say it isn't... Maybe its raining here today...

Wow. Um. Wow.
I do believe that's the most condescending and demeaning post I've ever read on this forum. Congratulations.

Buy the way, calling someone clueless is not condescending if they are in fact clueless. A (store manager) telling me what I was told in December at a motorcycle show he did not attend, well you get the point, maybe... Can I please talk to the owner... Lol
