ferret,
I dropped a new '75 XS650 too. Foot slipped on wet grass and over we went. No damage from what I remember. At least until I low sided it into a ditch... even then not much damage to the bike. I got a broken right thumb--the bone in your palm (don't know what it is called).

At the risk of jinxing myself here, the only bike I've ever dropped was a dual-sport Aprilia I rented in Costa Rica. I'm going to go find some wood to knock on now in hope of preventing any more drops.
BTW, congrats on the new bike!

Hey! Congrats and welcome to the asylum! I think I last looked at that bike the day before you bought it - what a small world.
Speaking of which, whereabouts are you located?

If you're close to Chaparral you're close to where I grew up and where my son lives now. We usually go to Chaparral when I'm there just to ogle all the gear and bikes.
Watch out for Papa Weeley when you're out on the roads, he's a loose canon.
The CB1100 does almost operate on its own, which is great when underway, but keep an eye on 'er; what she wants to do under 2 mph is lay down and take a nap.
Obviously we've ridden together at some point...

This thread got so off topic! Congrats Luke!
Also Greg, where's your side cover?

Yeah, Luke, sorry for hijacking your new bike thread.
Good eye, shdwghst, actually, I had taken off the side covers and the air box covers. Just poking around, seeing what's under there, and no I didn't tip the bike over out of curiosity.
Sometimes for passwords I'll mash my fingers on the keyboard and use whatever random letters and numbers come up. Is that by chance how you chose your user ID?

Well you see your problem there is a stowed side stand and center stand. Looks like you may have chosen the wrong side to rest the bike too. A good looking woman, and it appears a good looking bike, has the same affect on you; totally forgetting which side the side stand is on and thinking the phantom side stand is properly deployed.
Now buy me a beer......

Or coffee.

Nope, missing a few vowels. Colloquially people just say Shadow in online games and such. But it is fine listening to what people come up with for what it might mean.

Golly-starting to feel right at home here. I've been so far off topic for decades that most folk don't think I know how to spell clue, and they are right. Now regards this thing about putting your bike down for a nap; once you have done this once or twice you should have it down pat. Don't need to practice it no more. Cb1100 is one real nice riding bike. Have fun-stay safe.

Congrats on the new bike.
I have been looking for a discounted 2013 CB1100 in the LA area for a few weeks now.
Do you mind me asking how much you paid out-the-door? The best price I have been able to find so far is $9600.
Thanks!
