Aircraft registration numbers ("N" numbers on aircraft) are easily searched through the internet via the FAA registration center. Search N3578X and N787TM for example (my planes). When there is an aircraft in a movie or TV show, it's sometimes fun to do a search and see if it's a valid number.

A friend in law enforcement told me a number of years ago that a disconcerting number of plates displayed on vehicles are invalid (not current, don't match the vehicle description, etc.)

Time now to ride my CB.

All police agencies in my area that want one can get one or several automated license plate readers for their cruisers. It reads all plates- front, right, and left of the cruiser whether the plates are moving or parked. Big brother has arrived...

The ONLY way that I can think of for the general public to find your address via your license plate would be if you happen you have HAM radio plates as that information is mandated by the federal government to be registered to your home address and is public information. If you do a google search on any HAM (at least in the United States) it will come up on the FCC web site with the name and address of the licence holder.
Other than that, for any other licence number, it would have to be run either through the DMV or police data bases and neither are available to the general public.
Also MANY more people will see your plate on a day to day basis than will ever see it on the internet unless you live in a rural area with a population of about 10 people.

Ham license you provide a mailing address where you can be contacted by mail. I have a PO Box and not home delivery so the only thing that shows up on the FCC data base is my PO Box address, not my physical address.

As far as the plate, any noodle that wants another person's address can usually find it within an hour if they know what they are doing even without a plate. Privacy is long gone in today's world of debit cards, social media, and mailing lists.

N9PHW here, while my CB1100 doesn't display my call, my car does. Anyone willing to Google my plate could potentially show up at my door. But I don't hide it in pictures posted online.

My next step is to get a radio and antenna mounted to the bike that I can use on the road.

I thought they wanted the licence to go to your home address as that is where your "station" is supposedly located, even if you can only go mobile. Interesting.
