So.... There are pics of the CB 1100, supposedly a 2016 prototype, the one with the yellow tank, floating around on the web.
Here comes the IF part of the title..... IF this CB produced 110 horsepower, would that be enough to make you trade in your present CB 1100 for the more powerful version? Or are you happy with the horsepower your bike currently has?
This was a common complaint in other forums when the bike first came out. People thought HP ##'s where just to low. If you go to the ZRX site and type in CB1100 you'll see thread discussions regarding the bike.
HP is not just for going fast, its the effortless high speed cruising the takes the hit when numbers are down. The CB is in its comfort zone at 60-70MPH, once you get into 75-85 wind resistance and HP play a big factor on comfort. I never felt comfortable at 80MPH which is the main reason i sold the bike. If the bike was pushing out more HP like my GS1100EZ there would be less vibration and less throttle input needed. When i ride my GS which is naked, these speeds are effortless. More HP would make the CB more enjoyable at all speeds and would allow for taller gearing.

Good note on the speed limitation. Yes, over 60 without a windscreen the riding gets hairy. I prefer riding naked, but I can't make the time.
With my Plexistar 2, I can run it up to a hundred...the ride is comfortable. The noise level on the helmet is not; I have to wear foam earplugs. What's really needed here is an updated Windjammer fairing...sure, I know they appear from time to time. But it's a do-it-yourselfer's Everest challenge. A new one, set up to bolt on without problems of the instruments and oil cooler, would be a great thing.
Carl Vetter is still alive. I wonder why he won't either bring out his fairings again or license their designs.

2nd that. The Vetter Windjammer would look period correct on the CB and would make for comfy cruising on the super slab.

Last I read Craig was in the hospital in bad condition due to get out around Christmas. He struck a deer while riding, almost killed him.

Oh no, hope he will be all right. I have been lucky when riding but in cars not so much. I hit a deer in my 78 camaro and it crushed in the whole side. I can imagine (and thats all I want to do) hitting a deer on a motorcycle.
Please keep us informed on his progress

From the looks of it, Craig Vetter will never be the same. He also sold his Vetter business years ago, he would have to come up with a fresh design and frankly; the market for it is too small. Most bikes come with tupperware or in two versions, naked and tarted up - from the factory.
We stand a better chance of Honda coming out with a Hondaline fairing for it.

Nope, I like my baby. Now, if they decided to reproduce the 83' CB1100F, I still wouldn't trade her in, but I would buy it...LOL.

I come from a Guzzi Breva 750 with 48hp. Opening the CB's throttle gives me a bikegasm :-)

Trade my 2013 CB1100 for a newer model with 20 more horsepower? Twenty years ago I most likely would have. I bought my CB1100 without a test ride. It was love at first site. Then after the first ride I found that the beauty was more than skin deep. I am very happy with the performance of my 2013 CB1100. While the CB1100 looks very retro it rides, handles and brakes like a modern bike. I wouldn't trade peak high RPM horsepower for the very useable low end torque. I am very happy with Honda refinement, reliability and 50MPG on regular gas. I have another bike with well over double the horsepower of the CB1100 should I feel the need for more power, but I love the CB1100 for what it is.

Two evenings ago I pulled up behind a Ford Exploder in a left turn lane when a Jock Rocket pulled up behind me. I was certain he was there as he checked several times to ensure the engine was still spinning. We all turned left onto a four lane and I drop in behind the Ford. The Rocket screams passed us both in the other lane, with his left turn signal flashing until a mile later he turned right onto a different road. The motor on that machine had a pronounced mis-fire, it sorta sounded like an old two-cycle from years ago. I did notice that after he passed us that he slowed down; I guess the T-shirt didn’t feel all that great in the 60% temperature here in Virginia. But he did have horsepower. I think he thought we thought he was something, and he was something.
If the CB1100 just had more power then we might find him here in our Forum. And that my dear friends might be a good thing for him.

I did a little websearch.
He has a website up chronicling the development of the Vetter fairing. Seems that once the orders were rolling in in large numbers, he sold his nascent company in 1978. The new owners, which kept the Vetter name, let quality slip...went bankrupt...sold it to the Bell helmet company.
Bell was interested in updated designs from Craig Vetter but in the end they were more interested in their core business, helmets. They decided to close out - by that time the Gold Wing, the Silver Wing, and BMW and some others had Vetter knockoffs. He must have figured the gig was up.
http://www.craigvetter.com/pages/Vetter_..._made.html
I had a GL500 Silver Wing a few years ago; gave it away for lack of parts or willing shops...but in full-dress mode, it had a dead-ringer Vetter knockoff fairing. Which was ASTOUNDING in effectiveness. I had to run that old bike on a marathon run from Huron, South Dakota to Escanaba, Michigan. Lots of worries over the bad brakes - and deer; but I made it. It's telling that I wasn't worn down from noise and wind - there were little of either. They should try and retro THAT one.
But the Windjammer...it's probably not as good as I remember; but it's got to be better than a lot of bikes I've had since.
