My 5 week-old puppy jumped from my lap the other day and severely broke his front leg, required surgery including a metal plate to fix it correctly.

Attached, for your consideration, is a visual representation of how much the hospital bill came to:

I know how you feel, Shinchan. My cat got chewed up by a raccoon a few months ago costing me my next couple of budgeted farkles.....

" We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." Immanuel Kant....That's money well spent Shinchan, and says a lot about you.

Am I the only one who wants to see a pic of that pup?

Here he is with his brother from another mother, pre-operation. Guess the 1100 will have to wait a few months longer than anticipated...

And in case anyone was wondering, he's a chihuahua mixed with something or other, probably a mini pinscher

These things are always tough. If you haven't already you should look into pet insurance.

We never had it on any of our dogs, but got a free 90-day policy from the breeder when we got our most recent Brittany Spaniel.
I never wanted to continue after the 90, GF thought otherwise and did it, and the pup got "puppy strangles" after its first vaccine. The insurer paid about $10k on 16k in vet bills over the next year. There is no way we could have ever kept the dog without it, and I doubt I'd ever own a dog without insurance again. Totally worth the $60/month.

Well coming from North Queensland cattle country we always carried our own dog insurance. In those days less than 2d a round.

Cheers

Funnily enough one of my sons is a vet.

Cheers

Good lord, I'm not sure I would spend that much on myself.
