Bar ends
#1
It's embarassing to be so ignorant, but I don't have the extensive motorcycle history of most of you, so that's my excuse for having to ask.

What are the plastic cylinders incorporated into the end of the handlebars? Are these bar end weights, or protectors in case you drop the bike?

Have any other CBs come with these?

They're not plastic, they are aluminum. Bar end weights are for damping vibration.

If you mean INSIDE the bars, the bar end weight screws into that and the rubber absorbs the energy as the bar ends vibrate.

I'm not clear on what you just said, except they're aluminum, not hard rubber. So they are bar end weights?

Yes, the black things on the end of the bars are bar end weights.

There are actually two weights on each side. The end weights and then there are weights inside the handlebar.

What Randy says is very true. And notice they are rubber isolated from the bar with item 11.
