I don't think the CB is heavy versus huge cruisers and full scale touring rigs. IMHO it is heavy (and top heavy) for the kind of bike it is, though. That 550 lbs of 'road hugging' weight might give it a sense of stability at 65mph on the highway, but does nothing for spirited riding or low speed / no speed maneuvering. I do take extra care with it.

After reading a few replies regarding the weight of the CB. It behooves all of us to stay in the best physical shape we can (within our age demographics) if we wish to continue to ride. Wear the correct gear that is best for you and always ride alert checking traffic and road hazards as well.

If we should go down, there is something we can learn from our mistakes. It's just part of riding regardless of what we ride and the weight factor. Ride safe and Merry Christmas! Russ

Do you guys really think the CB1100 is heavy? Heavy compared to what?
I don't want to ride my KLR too far into the woods, on a fire road alone, because I'm afraid of washing out and getting hurt with no one to call for help. I don't like riding to the top of a hill on my Harley, and having to wait for the light to change while holding the front brake to keep it rolling backwards. But I'm not selling them. I don't want to drop any of my bikes, but if I did I could stand them back up, alone, as long as I didn't get hurt or the bike wasn't stuck in a dirt rut or something. It's not that hard to do as long as you're healthy and have some leg strength. Perhaps there's really more to buying a new bike than just the weight issue. Like wanting a new bike? Some guys are like that, they don't get emotionally attached to their machines. Some guys do... Good luck with your new toy!

I did this at the show.

Lifting a downed Harley.

Lifting bikes. Most people can, but not everyone. Just because you can doesn't mean you want to. Buy the bike(s) that feel right to you. Enjoy!

I note the request to Honda, to put the CB1100 on a diet and loose 50lb a "Whole Lotta Rosie", perhaps not.
