That's a nuts price. To be honest if it was in my neighborhood, I'd go look at it. If for nothing else to ride when it's raining or snowing to keep my deluxe cleaner. That's crazy.

That's a very depressing price indeed.
We don't usually do marriage guidance on this forum, so only you can work out the risk-consequences of buying a non ABS bike and being sprung!

And we can still , ugh , drink through a straw. With help. I've sold my DLX so I'm not sure if I can still participate in discussions but I rode BMWs for many years, all with ABS, and I can report that although I never used it (thank your preferred deity) in panic, it did operate a few times when braking in low traction areas, like over railroad tracks. I remember riding in my twenties (on my CB400) in town and misjudged a yellow/red light and ended up skidding all the way through the intersection. Fortunately no one hit me, but years later when ABS became available on higher-line bikes, I swore I'd never again ride without it.If you only need it that one time, it's well worth the money. FWIW, my first BMW was a 1996 model and it had ABS. It's been around for a long time, just only recently on the Japanese bikes.

So far I've hated ABS on a bike.. it was on my ktm990 and it near killed me twice. Once it was my fault for not shutting it off when on dirt, hit the brake to slide the rear to make a turn and it engaged and I almost went down in a ditch.
The other was a panic stop. I hit my brakes hard to avoid a car that pulled out in front of me. While the abs did its job, which I am grateful for, the studdering or shuddering affect upset the bike enough that I couldn't do an emergency swerve. It's great if all you have to do is a straight abrupt stop.. I don't like it as it locks you into that move only. In the case of my emergency stop. I got lucky as the driver of the car behind me had the forethought to brake and turn onto the shoulder. If he hadn't, I'd be the middle of a meat sandwich. I'd rather just my judgement and skill set (Sipde) along with my skill to avoid crap than rely on gadgets. Not to mention said gadgets are expensive to fix. I wouldn't buy anything that doesn't allow em to be shut off.. I'm having evil thoughts... That and I've already got a '13... My intent was next year to find a dlx or an ex and set it up for longer rides, but this price rocks...

I'm not sure it's fair to compare the performance of ABS between different manufacturers. How KTM does it may be different than BMW or Honda.

I'm not one Side note: I've currently got a dealer loaner since my neighbor creamed my brz.. It's a Subaru Outback wagon.. it's the essence of "saftey wagon".. it's got some added brake assist if I get too close to something in front, driver sight assist, lane departure warning/assist. Etc.. I hate it, and it takes me a few to turn it all off. it damn near drives itself.. I now believe that many simply don't pay enough attention with all the gadgets, or worse because of em, some may think it's now ok to use their cell phone or put on makeup while they drive..

I sincerely doubt a CB could achieve such a maneuver. Good luck with your search.A requirement for what? For putting a motorcycle over 125 cc on the market, like in EU? I hope not. Some of us like ABS, some of us consider it to be $500.- and 20 kilograms of iron of dubious utility. As an optional feature I think it has its place, but as a legal requirement, as in EU for instance, it is hogwash.

Please don't take my remark out of context. I was responding to the OP's desire for his next bike to be equipped with ABS. I agreed ABS should be a requirement for the bike he (and I) would consider for our next purchase. I don't necessarily agree it should be a requirement on all bikes, just as I don't agree with mandatory seat belt and helmet laws.
