Hey Guys, I'm a newbie here, but have been lurking a while. I currently ride a V45 Magna, but am looking for something a little newer and reliable. There are dealers here in WI advertising 2014 CB1100s for 6 grand. That seems a great deal, but why didn't these bikes sell?

First off, for heaven's sake YES! Great bike.
secondly: the MC market is in the toilet and every mfg has left overs they are trying to dump,. The CB is a niche bike that only appeals to a small market
thirdly: hello: Howdy and welcome to the forum

Even though I did not need another motorcycle, I bought mine from a Wisconsin dealer a monthl ago and am very glad that I did. It's a beautiful and smooth bike. At those prices it is an excellent value.

Hi, daveheinze, and welcome! We have scrupulously analyzed and dissected the reasons for the percieved lack of "success" of this machine elsewhere on this forum. The "search" button is your friend. You might find the CB1100 dedicated thread over on ADVrider to be enlightening, from the rumors to the arrival in this country. Lots of predictions and speculation.
I got mine about a year ago and thoroughly enjoy it, but I did end up changing the seat, pegs, and gearing to fit me better. I love the reliability, looks, and it fits my needs well.
It was not originally built to a price point, and is a good quality machine. Basically you are looking at a fine machine at about 50% off. Good luck!
Ben

Thanks for the info and replies. I'm getting sick of wrenching on a 35 year old bike, so now all I have to do is covince the wife. The only complaints I've seen is low power, but coming from an 83 Magna and a 66 Norton I don't think that will bee a problem.

It's funny the "low power" CB1100 is magnitudes stronger than anything in it's class (retro stds) except for the R9T pure which has about about 1/2 dozen horse more and costs a whole lot more.

Only you can decide that. It wouldn't be to me, but then again I traded in a perfectly good 2013 on a 2014 DLX
