bwaahaahaaahaa yea, right

A lofty claim... but for that money, I'd more than expect it! I wish them luck.

There were several riders at Bike Shed yesterday... so many that I had to do some tight maneuvering to get my CB1100 parked. And the Verge bikes were available for anyone to test ride. As far as I'm aware, at least for the time I was hanging out, I was the only person who took a ride. You'd think more people would at least be curious enough to take a free test ride.
You know what? I actually would like a pickle.

An interesting footnote to my visit to Bike Shed yesterday. I was a little absent-minded when I got there, and left the key in the on position when I got off my bike. Part way through my visit, I noticed it and pulled the key. Didn't think much about it until I was saddling up to leave, and when I hit the start button, I didn't have enough juice to start. The bike that had been in front of me was gone, so I paddled forward as fast as I could in second gear, and tried to bump the clutch to start.

This immediately caught the attention of the parking attendant who usually stands at the entrance to the motorcycle parking area, holding any street traffic for bikes exiting, and pointing vaguely to where he'd like you to park when you roll in.

As soon as I foot-paddled once to try to bump-start, he was on me. "Need a push?" I replied that yes, I'd appreciate the help. He said he keeps his eye out for people who look like they've got weak or dead batteries. With a bit of a shove, I bumped the bike to a start, thanked him, and was on my way.
You know what? I actually would like a pickle.

I don't understand that at all.

They are probably scared of crashing a 34k bike.

Which brings up an interesting point... I've been on plenty of OEM demo rides. A few weeks ago, I wrung out a little Triumph 400 Scrambler during "Scrambler Demo Day". I showed my M1 license, they handed me a key, and I was told "Have fun, bring it back in 30 minutes please."

But those are production bikes that are made by the thousands. The Verge was more like a prototype, and supposedly one of the few in the country for testing and display. And I showed my M1 license, the rep went over the bike and rode with me on our 20 minute test ride. At each stop, he commented "ok, now hit the button, let's try a different ride mode", but he had no idea of my riding skill or experience. If I did wad up the bike, wonder how much more of a tragedy it would have been than a $5k Triumph 400.

With M1 I would not even let you touch my bikes, you would only look at them from a safe distance, Gone  Tongue

what's an M1 license?

We just have a MC endorsement on our regular driver's Lic.

It doesn't matter what I ride, how far or how fast, only that I ride .... every day

Sorry, didn’t clarify. M1 is a motorcycle endorsement to a standard driver license in CA.

[Image: WuC0DgW.jpeg]What did I do ?  Well I collected it from nice man on a truck!  I am now officially the third owner of a 2017 CB1100 with about 6400 miles on it.  CLEAN too!  Its such a breath of fresh air to have a new one of these back in my life.  The 2017 has every advantage of the DLX with none of the disadvantages.

And as an aside, I didn't realize it til I parked the next to each other, but I am now the very proud owner of the two BEST retro motorcycles ever made.  The final year of the Triumph Thruxton RS and the final year (in USA) of the Honda CB1100. These two final incarnations represent a peak in an industry we will never see again. There will always be retro motorcycles on the market but they will never be this good again.
