Side stand, standing on the left, squeezing pump with left hand, leaned over and staring into the filler hole so as not to over fill it.

Yah, a buddy of mine suggested sitting on the bike and having it straight up to fit more gas, but I found that it makes almost no difference.

center stand and looking into the tank. Here in Oregon it takes two hands because of the vapor tube on the pump handle

Off the bike on center stand, looking into opening. Used to sit on the bike, but it's easier for me to set my tank bag on the seat than on the ground.

Bike on center stand, stand on the left, left hand on lever and right hand controlling the nozzle.

Yea I found that to be true. Filled it on the sidestand, had my brother straighten it up and I got one more tiny squeeze in it. Hardly worth the effort.

The same way I fill up the gastank of my bikes.
Short before overfilling, I stop the process.

Side stand, on the left, fill with your right hand. The problem with using the centerstand is you lose venting all at once with an accompanying gusher. On the side stand you can lose some vent space but its gradual. Does that make any sense?
