Helmet Preference

Curious as to what type of helmet is everyone riding with?
One thing I noticed is how dirty all mine are after I snapped this pic.

I have full face helmets. I would love to be able to use a half helmet in summer months, but for some reason I can't breath at any speeds over 40mph with my face in the wind. Plus I am kinda attached to my face and would like to keep it in event of an accident. That being said, I am looking for a new helmet. Full face, light weight, internal sun visor, fog free, and quiet.....Not asking for much huh?

My full face helmet is an Arai Quantum, expense but a really good fit, large visor and good ventilation.

My other helmet is a Shark Raw, good for short trips on B roads in the warmer months

HJC modular. I find anything other than a full face too noisy.

I have been pointed to the Shoei GT-Air, but I read conflicting reviews. Some owners say not worth the extra money when compared helmets with like features.

After trying 4 or 5 Shoei helmets this past summer, I ended up with 2, both have built in extra sun shield that comes down.

I have also been using the wet rag method to clean the shields, let a wet/warm t-shirt/rag sit on the shield for 15 minutes, bugs melt off, then wipe with micro fiber cloth.

Mind giving a review of the GT-air? Looking at how quiet, and vents work when open and dont when they are closed. That sounds strange but I have one lower end helmet that closing the vents donothing

In a nutshell, you can tell its a high quality helmet, certain times it feels/sounds like you are in a cockpit, everything is muffled, but strange enough there are times when you still hear wind noise, guess its impossible to make a perfectly quiet helmet. It does fit a little tighter than my other Shoeis did, but not an entire size. The pinlock comes with it and works perfectly at keeping stream off the view. And I LOVE having the drop down sunshield.

I've been a full face guy since I donned my first Bell Star back in the late 70s. This year I decided to try out a modular. It worked out nicely. I wear glasses, so that made things a bit easier. This one has a separate interior eye shield that pops down with the flick of a switch (nice feature). One big plus that I hadn't anticipated is being able to flip it up for some fresh air while sitting at traffic lights. When it's 110 in the shade, it keeps my head from cooking while stopped.

I bought one of Cycle Gear's house brands (Bilt, Solar). Not positive who manufactures it, but it's virtually identical to my friend's Bell Revolution modular.
