This thread must have been one of those low points in the CB1100 Forum. But yes, it t'was in the dawg daze of summer (northern hemisphere).

Fast forward to today - the Forum appears quite vibrant. Passionate members seem to keep arriving.

$1700 for a 4 mile ride.... That's just robbery. Around here if there is an accident they also roll fire engines and then charge the insurance companies for a fire run. What a racket.

I think I figured your ankle puncture was caused by the curb feeler under the foot peg. Once the footpeg folds up, it is just a solid, unforgiving 3/8" bolt ready to impale.

Seeing how this thread drifted, I'll add my own experience.

I had an injury a few years ago and called 911 for assistance. They dispatched the fire department and an ambulance. I ended up taking the ambulance to the hospital, about 15 miles away. The ambulance billed my insurance company, who promptly rejected the claim because it was "out of network." What?! When I'm bleeding to death on the kitchen floor and need immediate care, I'm supposed to flip through the phone book and find an ambulance service who'll take my insurance? I guess so! I had to pay the $1500 bill out of my own pocket. Really disgraceful.

Jeez. Not sure what to say - some common sense in the industry was missing. That is a bad experience.

Priorities like that are a bit different in Canada.

You only find out how good your insurance company is when you need them , premiums are not all that important at THAT time.

In Ontario, ambulance expenses fee to client/patient only if the call is a false alarm. There is no involvement of insurance.
