Thank God for protective gear Jim. Hit and run driver was probably high on drugs or alcohol. Very happy you were not seriously injured.

Nowhere in our society is our incivility and lack of respect, courtesy, or common decency more apparent than in our driving practices. Anyone who would knowingly run someone over like that and fail to stop to render assistance - let alone take responsibility, should be subject to losing their privilege to drive. For life.

JMHO.

Hope all is OK with you mate. Bikes are repairable or replaceable. The positive from this ugly incident is that you are alive and kicking. Get well quick and back in the saddle soon.

Best wishes, Tony.

Indeed I had someone looking out for me on Friday.

Thanks for kind words everyone, I'll be fine in a week or so. I asked the folks who did stop to help but they came up after it had happened, so no witnesses. I'm pretty good at IDing cars like most gear heads, but it was only a flash from my left that looked like a late model SUV and I couldn't tell even the make.

I thought I'd let it slide, but I suppose the right thing to do is report it to the cops, tho the chances of finding the driver are pretty slim.

I can't say this enough.....GO TO THE HOSPITAL. You might feel alright, but those bruised ribs might not just be bruised. I was knocked over at 30 mph in a similar manor and ended up with a broken collarbone, two ribs and a small puncture on my left lung. You can't be too careful in these circumstances. I also had a 1/4" deep puncture wound on my left ankle that took months to heal...that was fun.

I'm still not done with the doctors. I have an appointment this week for an MRI on my hip that could be a torn labrum and could end up needing surgery. My accident was on 5/23/14 and I'm not done yet. Just an FYI.

Heal up my friend.

And that's an opinion I share.
If there ever was a case for wearing gear, this is it.
This could have been so much worse, but we can't dwell on that.
Heal well and quickly Jim, and make a police report anyway as has been suggested.

Heal fast. When I had my store I always tried to sell up to the better
gear. Young guys doing track days would often stop back to show us
how well their gear held up.
Are you going to have your insurance cover the crash?

Glad you came through it with minor scuffs. Your guardian angel was on your shoulder that day for sure.

Randy's recommendation to have a doctor check you out is a good one.

Unconscionable the jerk did not stop and own up to it. Bad karma is on his or her way.
