LOl Like you I'm old school and always just bundled up and toughed it out. I got my first heated gear last winter. Getting the electric gear was such a revelation. You don't have to be cold, even if it's cold out. I have a heated jacket liner and glove liners which plugs into my battery tender pigtails on both bikes and a set of Oxford heated grips on my ST (so no need for the heated glove liners) which I ride the most in the winter because of it's superior whole body wind protection.

Can't believe my cold weather gear consisted of wool sox, work boots, blue jeans, a wool sweater, an army pea coat, work gloves, a wool scarf and an open face buco helmet with bubble face shield at one point. I have been so cold I simply could not stop shivering. I have been so cold it hurt my fingers and toes to warm them up. I have been so cold, my lips would split and bleed if I smiled.

Gear has come a long way. No sense suffering anymore.

And hypothermia is dangerous. One could have sluggish reactions or just poor decision making creating a danger to yourself and others.

Heated grips are magic.

You my friend has lived in the day when we rode when ever. I rode my bike to work today, it was 38. With my fairing and warm closes, I was fine. It's about a 25 minute ride.

I used to ride my CB360 in Jan in West Lafayette IN when I was a grad student at Purdue. 30 min. ride even in -10F was no problem. Small bike so when started to slide or go down on the ice I could give it a little kick to keep it up. I can say now I am a fair weather rider.

Cool... errr, excuse the pun.

But, I'm guessing you were totally "wired" up with all the heated acoutermonts... (spelling).
