Case savers make it easier to pick up the bike if, say for example, it decides to take a nap.

Case savers better than frame sliders? I like frame sliders but they are a bit out of character for this bike. I think case savers might be the way to go.

I think case savers look better and go with the retro look of the CB better than sliders. Younger folks may well think other wise. At least we have choices. Big Grin

I gotta stop looking at matching side covers. Those are very very nice.

I know what you're saying; they definitely carry more of the retro look, and are actually probably better protection-wise. But I'm not a "younger folk" (far from - ha!) and I've just never been a fan of the way they look. In fact, when we were kids, we called them "old man bars" (no offense intended to anyone here sporting them, of course!).
I ended up going with the Moriwaki frame sliders because they'll certainly help if the need arises, and they're a lot less obtrusive looking. Mind you, this is just one man's opinion - as you stated, it's nice that we've got these choices! Big Grin

I agree that engine guards can detract from the looks of a bike, but many of the ones for the CB are fairly low profile:
