If I want to experiment with one extra front tooth, at 2000 miles, will I care about changing chain at all? I don't mind to spend $15 for a front sprocket self serviced. I however think about my riding style - 85% seat time at 70 mph 4k rpm, 5th gear at 35 MPH in city, will 400 rpm lower affect the engine response?

I might do it, if I don't like the result, I can always change back as i about to adjust the chain slack in near future. It is nice to run the bike at 60 mph at 3k rpm

Ie: if you are running a given speed at 5000, going up 1 tooth on the counter will net 4600 at the same speed. Conversely it will make it slightly harder to take off, and might require a downshift for going up hill or passing.

Has anyone found a source for a larger (19T) front sprocket? Mfr, part number? Perhaps an alternative Honda Part number?

Honda fiche: SPROCKET (18T) 23801-MAZ-000 (530 chain size)

Does anyone know for sure if there is enough room for a 19T sprocket to clear the cases?

The first place to look is JT Sprockets. They're the largest manufacturer. I would bet they make one.

(or was it Cogswell Cogs and Spacley Sprockets?!)

Just curious, how many teeth does the stock sprocket have?

Stock drive sprocket is an 18 tooth. In the old days Honda used to offer 1 tooth up and 1 tooth down on the microfiche, but there are no options on the CB 1100 fiche.

This is a heavy bike with plenty of torque. I wouldn't want to risk a smaller chain to gain maybe 1 or 2 HP. It's just not worth the added wear on the sprockets and chain or the risk of premature failure of either.

Bringing an old thread back to life...

I purchased some filters and oil from a fellow CB owner here. The sale also included a 19T front sprocket that I have not yet installed. Has anyone installed a 19T counter sprocket that can confirm plenty of room between the chain and cases.
Also, did you notice much of a difference at highway speed? Hard acceleration is not that important to me. I'll be sure to post some observations once I try it out for myself.
