Recommendations for a parking cover

I park my cb in the garage, but if I want to take her for the commute I would like to buy a good cover that fits well, doesn't blow off in strong wind but doesn't cause a tipping hazard, and won't degrade in a year from uv rays. I tried several different covers on my last bike and never really found a keeper, but figured I would ask here before I repeat that trial and error shopping again.

I think the only place you can get one like that is in Oz. The Oz with Dorothy, not the Oz with Cormanus

Is a cover really necessary?

For years I left the CB in a parking lot for the whole day baking relentlessly under direct sunshine and heavy summertime thunderstorms of torrential downpour.

Not only was the bike there every time, and the black rubber stayed black and no plastic cracked or greyed, and the seat cover remained immaculate, but it always started.

My biggest issue - maybe once every 6 to 8 weeks was a bird turd on the seat. Maybe one other time was one half of a burger bun was on my instrument cluster (left by a squirrel). None of these, however, was a pain.

I get Nelson Rigg covers that run about $30 or so and replace them every year when they start to fade and get a little thin. Haven’t found one that lasts forever that can pack up to a reasonably small size.

Anything like a bike cover that sits outside is, ultimately, sacrificial. You’ll have to replace it sooner or later. I’d buy one that fits reasonably and that can be tied down at a couple of points. The better the quality the more it will cost but, in theory, the longer it will be until you have to replace it.

uv rays are the enemy of all covers they become brittle and prone to cracking.. a cheap 1-2 years a other holds 5-6 years

I've never covered my bike at any kind of destination, but I didn't/don't commute on it. I only rode to work on Wednesdays, and was more or less pretty lucky to find a spot that would be in shade in the afternoon. My new gig is the exception, in that I don't think I'll be riding even on Weds. It's mostly WAH, but when I do have to go to the office, it's in a gritty industrial area in the City of Commerce, where the streets are all pot-holed and big trucks are literally everywhere. I had a gig in Lake Forest for a while and I loved the ride to work there, the industrial park was like a suburb with huge white buildings and the route went down PCH and right by UCI on a broad tree-shaded avenue. I could do the whole ride and never get on a freeway.

I figured I’d let a cover take the UV rays rather than my bike, which sits outside of my office all day. Funny thing, a few years ago my bike got bumped in the office parking lot. The excuse was that my black cover had faded to a shade of grey that matched the color of the pavement.

I started using hi viz yellow covers, and replacing them when they fade to a custard color.

More recently, after a very dim bulb flickered over my brain, I realized that I run a warehouse. I get to park whatever I want inside it.

Looks like there wasn't any better luck out there. I'll just keep trying and let you know if I find a keeper.

We recently got a Speedway shelter for one of my friends bikes which is always outside. It's really good quality doesn't budge in the heavy winds because it has a bottom it attaches to, doesn't let any dust or water in and allows for enough airflow to dry off any condensation. He is extremely happy with it. Perhaps something too look into
