I will apologize upfront if this post offends anybody, but my 2014 CB1100 is not the best bike I have ever owned (I have owned over 30, and I own 7 right now). Like all the previous posts, I like my CB1100 a LOT, but my 1998 VFR800 is my all time favorite. Once off city streets, the VFR is quicker, lighter, better handling, faster, and more comfortable - the fairing is probably the biggest factor in it being more comfortable on the highway, but the Corbin seat helps.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges here. Both bikes are designed and meant for different purposes.

I think it's fair Mi Lord. a Motorcycle is a motorcycle. Some are better at things than others, but in the end how the owner perceives the motorcycle in relation to other motorcycles they have ridden or owned, and how it pleases him is what counts in the end. I trust if he had to choose one and only one for his garage, he would choose the VFR. That's fair.

Oh I agree Mr. Ferret. Its just that one bike isn’t necessarily bad because one doesn’t like it as much as another.

Maybe I just misinterpreted what he was conveying.

But no hurt on my part. All bikes aren’t for everyone and if your other bike is your favorite that’s good too! Variety IS the spice of life after all.

Enjoy this thread and couldn't agree more with the initial premise that the CB1100 is "such a good motorcycle." I've only been able to put about 100 mies on mine due to an unforeseen surgery/recovery, but it does everything I wanted it to do. Reminded me of my '78 CB550K Four and what biking felt like to a 16 year old.

The recent veering into favorite bike is fun too. I can't say any one of my bikes has been a "favorite". Each has been good at doing what I wanted it to do at the time. Except maybe one.

This bike taught me the nuance between a bike being fun to ride and a bike being fun to ride on. This one was fun to ride on--mostly to get to Rick Fairless's Strokers--and then park and let it look pretty. The 300 rear tire made riding it on anything other than a straight road very interesting.

Had a '92 VFR 750 and an '86 700 - both with aftermarket mufflers. Oh what a sound...love gear driven cams.

I agree, have only had my 2014 for a short time but I'm really having fun with it. Think it's a bike that can do it all, leaving for Sturgis Wednesday on my 2020 HD FXLR, but was thinking if there was a problem with the HD the CB would be up for the job. Only thing I would like to have on it would be cruise and some highway pegs on the engine guard. This Honda is a keeper.

Ferret, thank you for coming to my defense. I like my 2014 CB1100 a LOT, for all of the same reasons stated in this post. I think it's a great bike, and I doubt I will ever sell it. I really hoped that my comments would not offend anybody, but...There are times when I prefer to ride the CB1100, and there are times when I prefer to ride the VFR800, like today. My wife and I both agree the VFR is much more comfortable on long (100+ miles) rides. The Corbin seat on the VFR may have something to do with this, but I am certain the small fairing, windshield, and slightly bent into the wind riding position has a lot to do with the open road comfort.
