All those Yamaha R series two strokes were awesome motorcycles. My brother had an RD 250 that was a gas to ride. RZ is gorgeous!

I remember still riding my ol' RD400 when the RZ family came out and was wondering to myself: Wha the heck happened, ... as I looked down at my heavy'ish air-cooled 70s model. Today, the RD is a highly sought prize.

Sure brings back memories jimg13!
I recall buying my RZ for $1,800, it was completely stock with only 1,100 miles and was a stable mate to my BMW at the time. I bought it just to occasionally ride and keep as a collectable. A couple years later, for whatever reason, I decided to sell it. I advertised it for $2,800 in the BMW MOA marketplace which back then of course meant mailing the ad in a couple months ahead. Maybe a month later in conversation with my wife when I mentioned I was selling it she said "Are you crazy? Keep that bike!". She was right so I changed my mind and forgot about it. Some weeks later when I started getting calls I simply told them it was no longer available. Then one day a young man and woman pulled up at my house in an old van asking for me. After introducing ourselves he said "We're here for the bike". I said "what bike?" He said "the Yamaha RZ350 that you advertised in the MOA". I told him I'd decided not to sell it weeks ago. He looked shocked saying they'd just recently gotten married and were buying the bike as a gift to each other, and had driven all the way from Connecticut to get it. I said why didn't you call about it because I'd have told you which would have saved you the trip? He said "I did call, yesterday, and I talked to your son, he told me all about the bike and I told him it was sold and that I'd be there tomorrow". I went in and asked my 11 year old son who said yes, he'd just forgot to tell me! The guy was shocked, his wife started tearing up and got back in the van, and I felt bad. I agreed to honor the ad and sell it to them. Here is an image of the pic I took of it to be able to mail to potential buyers. This is the one motorcycle I truly regret selling.
