DougsZ28, don't let the bellowing of nay-sayers put you off. Thanks for posting this thought. It's a good question to discuss.
Over the time I've been a member of this forum there have been a few discussions on the merits or otherwise of ABS. There've been blokes who reckon they can brake better than ABS and who argue ABS reduces riders' skill levels. Good luck to them, I say. ABS can brake a whole lot better than me in an emergency and, if I could have got it on my CB1100, I would have. Likewise, I've done a bit of long distance riding on this bike and there have been occasions when I'd have killed for decent cruise control. Adaptive cruise control? Even better. Lane assist technology? Bring it on. Anything that makes it safer for me out there on a real road is just fine with me. Having said all that, I know there are bikes that offer all this and more, and I'm in no hurry to buy one. My reasons for purchasing the CB1100 were largely sentimental and based on the design and look of the bike. I wouldn't change that for a moment. I'm not planning on selling it either. But if it looked the way it does and had a whole lot more safety tech hidden away in it, I'd still have bought it.

(+1) It is illogical to imply ABS makes a rider "weaker", whatever that really means. One thing for sure, how many at speed situations were saved by ABS that we take for granted or was otherwise quite unexpected? What would have happened in the unexpected situation without ABS? ABS is like an incremental reason why in general society is living longer lives compared to our predecessors.

I'm not sure if the technology - DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) saved me or it was just my expert riding skills, but more than likely just dumb luck.....I survived this hard part hit.
I ordered some longer peg "feelers" hoping they will hit first as a warning. ![]()
