Mine acts the same way sometimes, usually during cooler morning temps. Not concerned though. I don't let my bike sit and idle to warm up; just start motor, back the bike out of my garage/driveway and I'm off.
First stop (or slow crawl, right turn) is about a quarter mile away, which is when the engine sometimes goes into the high idle mode. Second stop is another quarter mile, rpm may or may not stay high at that time. The next stop is about a mile down and by that time the engine rpm is always back to normal.

Hey guys just an update. I showed up at the dealership at 9am and wasn't on the waiting list so I waited for my bike anyways then they finally got done with it at around 12:30 and I went back there and they said the reason for it was that my bike needs a new iacv so now it's on order maybe this will soon be a recall thanks to my complaining mouth haha!

interesting. Thanks for getting back to us Jeff.

Jeffhark, you had me thumbing through my shop manual trying to figure this one out. I suspected the IACV, but without knowing if your bike had a code set for this error I could not be sure.
BTW; good thing the dealer is changing the IACV (under warranty I would presume) since it's buried inside the throttle body.

I can't believe I called it! (We won't count the Service Manual, cough, cough). Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Also, this is the first reported on the board IACV failure.

Yes the dealer is changing it out under warranty thanks for all the support guys.

Please keep us up to date. Hopefully they actually troubleshot it and didn't just guess it's bad as a most probable failure.
OTOH, I'm sorry that you are having problems. These bikes have shown themselves to be very reliable. But, that's why we have (or had) warranties

And what is an IACV?

Idle Air Control Valve
It's what modern cars and bikes (EFI engines) use to control the idle speed. |
