SW-Motech Pannier Racks
#1

I'm considering putting saddle bags on my 2014, and found some SW-Motech racks. But the pictures are pretty poor, so I can't tell how far out these racks make the bags (I'll find some black hard bags to mount).

Anybody else try these yet? How did they fit and how far out do they push the bags from the sides?

Thank you for sharing this. I had searched the forum for keywords "SW-Motech rack" and it failed to find your post, so I assumed there wasn't anything on this board about this.

Could you post a rear shot picture, and a right side picture of your bike with the racks and panniers on? Still wondering how far they stick out, and how close this comes to the exhaust.

And are you using a stock exhaust? I've got an 4-1 Arrow and think it rises up a bit higher then stock.

These are not great photos, but here are a couple of pics.

The setup is on my DLX, which replaced the 2013 CB that I had previously.

Have 2014DLX. For my current TourMaster SELECT Saddlebags + Tailbag set, I didn't need a rack mount. Now plan on buying/installing SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock EVO Side Carriers that you referenced, to attach panniers. Looking at Hepco & Becker Junior Flash 40 Side Case Set of panniers to attach to to it. Also looking at MotoMachines Amphibious Universal Motobag 2 as an option.

I just went this route. I had picked up the Evo racks from a forum member last fall, and yesterday acquired a barely-used set of the 45L Trax alu-boxes. Installation of racks & boxes was a breeze (for the most part), but now I need to come up with a taillight/turn signal solution, as my rear fender is chopped.

My plan is to add an LED lightbar with stop/tail/turn to the crossbar between the brackets, and wire it & my current lights with deutsch connectors so I can swap between configurations easily.

12 miles, does the sides of the rack flare out in the back like shown in the pic,
or does the sides of the rack run parallel along the bike?

No, that’s just an illusion. I’m not much of a photographer.
