Replace 2013 Headlight with LED or something a bit brighter

Hello, I am a new member so please be kind. I hope I am in the proper part of the forum for a question.

I would like to upgrade the headlight on my 2013 which currently has the stock headlight bulb.

Has anyone made the upgrade and was it plug and play? Thank you.

Hi Mike,
you have several options.
1) just an H4 bulb, fits straight into the original housing, but it's a little expensive for just a bulb, No problems with wiring because the bulb draws less current than stock. Call it plug n play.
2) buy and install a complete LED light from the later model, very expensive, and I have seen reports that isn't a good beam for riding in darkness. And it doesn't use the same connector(s).
3) third party (led) headlights, expensive too, you will find many posts on the matter here on our site.

I have simple plug n play LED bulb from Amazon (CDN)
Definetly less heat and brighter during a day = bike is more visibale to others, don't know how it is at night....

Welcome, MikeScott. Sure you'll get plenty of information here. I have an LED H4 bulb similar to Peterbaron's. Like his, all of the electronics are on the bulb side, not the socket side, so anything hot is inside the headlight shell and not behind it where all of the wiring is bundled inside the headlight bucket.

I ride year-round, and find an LED bulb to be a big improvement at night.

Not cheap but worth it to me. I used to ride at night a lot more with my old shift so it was a no brainer.
