A Victory Octane, piloted by Victory's stunt rider, Joe Dryden, has secured the Guinness World Book of Records record for a rolling burn out.
If Cormanus cares to mount a challenge on his CB I will volunteer to catch it on video

.
Cheers

You would have to ask Victory motorcycles that. It was their picnic. Probably appeals to the cruiser crowd.

I thought it was a cynical exercise by a desperate tyre reseller.

No, it was done for the Octane launch at the Daytona Bike Week. It is, apparently, a "performance cruiser". Sort of an oxymoron, with the emphasis on the last two syllables.
Cheers On reflection, if the CB had had a launch like that there might be a few more around. The number of members on this forum, including me, who say, "I walked into a showroom and, strike a light, I saw this bike, thought it was a resto job and ..............."

I get a lot of compliments when I take my 1100 for a ride. Just as many as my original 75 CB750. Guys have never seen one and they think it's old and they ask me if I restored it. When I tell them it is new they are really impressed, especially when I mention the fuel injection and point out that it really is air cooled. I believe if Honda dealers stuck their unsold 11's out in front where people could see them, they would sell, quick.

Cycle World magazine has given the Octane quite a favourable review. Some of the characteristics would appeal to CB owners, good torque spread, comfortable seating position and more. Other (characteristics) would not. In view of a discussion I had on another thread I had to smile wryly at a comment from Victory's representative, "Of course, Victory will help you tailor the Octane to your desires".
Still it's "light, fast and affordable". Not bad. Honda could have got it better with the CB. Maybe in a future iteration they will.
