I guess it helps in the slalom to know that you don't have to bear the repair cost when it goes wrong.

Yeah, if they are doing some sort of on-the-job "chase down", these skills will be required, no matter the possible material consequence.

So, my guess, if I ever see them getting bigger in the rear mirror wildly gesticulating, it's not worse stepping on the gas - not uphill nor downhill ?
