Luckily I haven't dropped it since and have yet to drop my KLR or my Honda. Although I've almost dropped the KLR a number of times in the dirt. By the way, welcome to the forum... I see you're new here and that you live in Cumming. Welcome! I have a home there just waiting for me to retire. The riding in N. Georgia is amazing. I miss it. The riding at least in the part of Florida where I spend most of my time just isn't good at all!
Just to provide full disclosure, Rudy only posted twice to this forum, the thread is three years old. But worthy of a bump. Pun intended.

Yes, it was bumped [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=610&pid=138849#pid138849]yesterday by Streetshark who wanted to know the size of the clutch lever pivot bolt retaining nut.

Cheers

I did the same thing about a month ago, dropped my bike in the corner at like 5 mph. It went sliding on right side for at least 8'. Scratched side cover, removed metal from brake pedal, scratches on exhaust and bar end cap. I've ground off sharp material from brake pedal, and keep riding it just like that. Just feeling really stupid for letting it happen.

Engine cover is the most expensive part here, $200. A set of guards would have prevented that.

Front brake. Very powerful. Works brilliantly for butt-hauling but quite strong in the parking lot.

Dropped my KLR twice in the garage and once while it was running I accidentally hit the foot shifter and it lurched forward and fell over, pinning me against the back of my atv trailer. It happens...more to those of us that are slow to learn....Blush

That is exactly why I stopped mounting up when the bike was running. I wait till I am on it, depress the rear brake, and then fire it up.

Also, some or maybe all of the new bikes with traction control require the bike to be motionless until the engine is started and the self-check is complete.

I dropped a bike on my car in the garage and did about $2K worth of damage to it, about a year ago. Foot slipped on the centerstand, water on the floor. Very stupid on my part.
